米農務省は７月３日、世界の食糧安全保障に関する報告書を公表しました。それによると、発展途上国70か国の食糧事情は、今後10年間でさらに悪化することが予想されています。これらの国々で１日に必要な栄養を摂取できない人の数は、2006年時点で８億4900万人に達しており、2007年には９億8200万人に増加しています。

2007年の米国の観光産業 (3/17/08)

米商務省からの３月10日のプレスリリースによると、2007年に米国を訪れた外国人観光客数は5600万人を超え、観光産業としては前年度を14％上回る1220億ドル余りの売り上げになったとのことです。出身国別に見ると日本人観光客数はカナダ、メキシコ、英国に次ぐ４位で353万人を数えましたが、前年に比べ４％減となっています。

米企業の情報技術インフラへの支出 (3/7/08)

３月６日に発表された米商務省国勢調査局のレポート「Information and Communication Technology Survey」によると、米国企業は2006年に、情報通信技術機器とコンピュータソフトウェアに2507億ドルを支出したとのことです。これは2005年に比べ、6.3パーセントの増加となります。

2008年1月の雇用統計と2007年10-12月期のGDP (2/13/08)

２月１日、米労働省労働統計局より米国の雇用状況が発表されました。2008年１月の雇用は建設業で27000人減、製造業で28000人減、一方ヘルスケアなどのサービス分野では雇用が増加し、失業率は4.9％と横ばいとのことです。
